Carey was a fashion model. She is 5'10" tall, and was well-liked by famous American designers such as Calvin Klein, Ralph Lauren, etc. Her father was an eminent geologist and awarded the title of Scientist from 1979 by Rocky Mountain Association of Geologists. Carey's father was a scientist who travelled the globe as a part of his professional career. Modeling began part time during her time at college at University of Colorado and caught the attention of an agent for the Ford model Agency in New York. She moved to France in 1980 and lived briefly in Paris as well as Bordeaux prior to deciding to move back to New York to continue with her college education and modeling career. She soon began being featured on the cover of Vogue, Glamour, etc. When she was modeling and continued to pursue her studies in full-time a major in literature within New York University. While she was studying acting at Neighborhood Playhouse, New York and began to become interested in acting grew. In 1986 she began her career on stage with a small role on the show "Club Paradise" alongside Robin Williams. In her spare time, she enjoys skiing or windsurfing. She also enjoys climbing mountains as well as whitewater rafting.
